Leaks surrounding OnePlus’s highly anticipated flagship, the OnePlus 15, are revealing some disappointing details. Previously, negative rumors about the display surfaced, and now, even the rear camera system is rumored to be experiencing a downgrade. Here are the details.
OnePlus 15 Camera Revisited
According to posts on the X, the brand’s next flagship may not be as impressive in camera performance as its predecessor. Aside from the ultra-wide-angle lens, the periscope telephoto camera and the main camera are rumored to feature a significant downgrade. Rumors suggest the main camera will be a 1/1.56-inch 50MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture. The zoom lens will use a 1/2.75-inch 50MP Samsung JN5 sensor with 3x optical zoom.
In comparison, the OnePlus 13’s main camera had a larger 1/1.43-inch sensor with an f/1.6 aperture. The wider aperture and larger sensor provided better low-light performance and sharper images.
While the new model retains the telephoto lens optical zoom, the sensor size will be smaller than the 1/1.95-inch 50MP Sony IMX882 sensor in the OnePlus 13. This is further highlighted by OnePlus’ recent confirmation that it will end its partnership with Hasselblad and switch to its own DetailMax engine.
In addition to the camera and display, the phone’s vibration motor is also rumored to be undergoing a downgrade. The OnePlus 15 is expected to switch from the AAC CSA+0916Turbo (602 mm²) used in the OnePlus 13 to a smaller AAC ESA1016 (560 mm²) component. This change could lead to a reduction in the OnePlus 13’s praised, clearer and more powerful vibration feedback.
According to leaked information, these changes align with OnePlus’s plans to position the OnePlus 15 as a high-end gaming device, much like the iQOO 13, which is quite popular in the Chinese market.
